  • Newtown made national and world news for the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.  It was tragic and sad that 20 children and 7 adults were killed by Adam Lanza including his mother.  Adam is believed to have suffered severe mental health issues that went untreated.  The event sparked many debates about limiting access to guns for those with mental illness.
