Share the Love Check Presentation - Camp Rising Sun



May 30, 2025. The Premier Subaru family of car dealerships in Connecticut, continues to pledge it's support to Camp Rising Sun Charitable Foundation. Donations totaling $158,548 this year surpass the $142,478 donated during last years Share The Love Campaign. Over the last 9 years Premier has donated more than $850,000 to Camp Rising Sun.

Camp Rising Sun is an overnight, weeklong camp for children that have been recently diagnosed, going through treatment for, or are in remission with cancer. The camp was designed to provide a safe, nurturing environment to these children ages 5 through 17. Camp Week takes place at Camp Jewell YMCA in Colebrook, CT.
The Premier Subaru family of car dealerships in Connecticut, with locations in Branford and Middlebury, have been longtime supporters of Camp Rising Sun, which is their hometown charity. Camp Rising Sun is an overnight, weeklong camp for children, ages 5 to 17, that have been recently diagnosed, going through treatment for, or are in remission with cancer.  During the Share the Love Event that took place November 16, 2023, through January 2, 2024, customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru from one of our dealerships got to pick from 4 national charities, ASPCA, Make a Wish, Meals on Wheels, National Park Foundation, or they could choose our hometown charity, Camp Rising Sun, and Subaru donated $500 to whichever charity the customer chose.

On Friday May 10, 2024, Robert J Alvine, President of Premier Subaru, presented a check in the amount of $142,478 (total) for both locations) to Shaun Heffernan, who is CEO of Camp Rising Sun.  This money helps allow children to attend the camp for an entire week without financial burden on the family and allows the kids to just be kids while also giving the parents a little bit of a break.



 



Camp Rising Sun

Camp Rising Sun exists to provide a safe, nurturing environment for kids who have faced the diagnosis of cancer so that they may grow and learn from their experiences to become the
best they can be.

Camp Rising Sun welcomes any child aged 5-17 who has faced a diagnosis of cancer to a week of fun and friendship.  Campers can be in treatment, in remission, or anywhere in between.  Camp is held in the beautiful hills of Colebrook, Connecticut at the facilities of Camp Jewell, a YMCA campground.  Campers stay in heated cabins with other children in their age group along with a dedicated staff.  Thanks to our generous supporters there is no cost to attend camp.
