Premier Subaru in Middlebury Donates Car To Local U.S. Military Veteran - Robert A

Premier Subaru in Middlebury Connecticut spent this past Veteran’s Day showing a local military veteran how truly appreciated they are for their commitment and sacrifice to the U.S. In partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF), the dealership presented a Subaru Forester to United States Marine Corps Corporal Roger Rua and his family. Roger was selected to receive a Subaru after applying to MWSF’s Transportation4Heroes program, which includes a rigorous vetting process to ensure selected veterans and/or their families are the most deserving recipients. MWSF then worked directly with Premier Auto Group to present the payment-free vehicle in the celebration on Veteran’s Day. Roger Rua was born and raised in Connecticut and joined the military in January 2010 after feeling the call of duty to serve and protect his country. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and later deployed to Afghanistan in 2011, where he was wounded during combat and received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained. Roger was honored with several additional awards for his service, including the Combat Action Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and more. After four years of faithful service, he retired from the military and now resides in Naugatuck, CT with his family. Premier Subaru Middlebury President Bob Alvine was focused on dedicating his auto group’s latest giveaway to veterans in acknowledgement of our nation’s most cherished individuals. Bob and his team have taken great pride in being able to help Roger as he transitions to civilian life. The MWSF is a 15-year-old 501(c)(3) non-profit charity founded by Retired LTG Leroy Sisco, with a mission of providing crucial transitional support for our nation’s combat-wounded heroes, Gold Star spouses, and their families. Its programs focus on transportation assistance, housing and homeownership, recreational activities, and leadership development. The Foundation is on its way to awarding more than 145 payment-free vehicles and 1,000 mortgage-free homes across all 50 states. Premier Auto Group Subaru joined forces with MWSF for the giveaway, with the Foundation selecting the deserving recipients through their application program and Premier Subaru Middlebury donating the brand-new vehicles. The Veteran’s Day giveaway supports Subaru and their nationwide corporate commitment to giving back. Connecticut’s Premier Auto Group is proud to have dedicated its 2022 Veteran’s Day to such a worthy cause and honoring this local hero with the gift of safe, reliable transportation.

Transportation Emergency! - Kerri P

Premier Subaru Middlebury was contacted by our Share The Love local charity, CT Cancer Foundation, about an emergent need for transportation for one of their recipients. A ten year old girl in her fifth round of experimental cancer regimens for a brain tumor had recently been unable to get to her therapies because her Mom's vehicle had broken down and was beyond repair. Premier teamed up with CCF and each donated 50% of the funds needed to get this family who had gone through so much already to a safe place with transportation. The vehicle, sales tax, registration fees and insurance was all covered for them! We hope this gesture allows the family to have one less worry during this difficult time and allows this young lady to beat her battle!!

Patient Story From The CT Cancer Foundation - Kerri P

As a part of Premier Subaru Watertown's Share The Love Campaign, Premier Subaru is supporting The Connecticut Cancer Foundation, by contributing $250 for every new Subaru sold from Thanksgiving to New Years. As a part of this program, Premier Subaru adopted a family to specifically assist. Joy is a 46 year old single mother of a 9 year old son, Lucas and, adopted 15 year old daughter, Olivia, from Torrington, CT. Lucas is in the 4th grade and Olivia, a high school student, is in a special education program for autism and ADHD. Joy was working as a Home Health Aid for mental health clients until the COVID19 pandemic and everything closed down. She has been unable to work since May, 2020. In July, Joy was diagnosed with breast cancer and most recently neuroendocrine cancer. She had a double mastectomy in October and, is beginning treatment for the newly diagnosed cancer. She has been living on her daughter's monthly disability check. Premier Subaru Watertown is proud to have adopted Joy and her family for our Share the Love program - specifically. This includes providing Joy and her family a full Christmas and ensuring that we provide them with gifts, food and gift cards to make their holiday season a bit brighter. We are proud of the efforts of The Connecticut Cancer Foundation and, looking forward to continuing to assist Joy, her family and, the other families devastated by cancer.
