  • There are several ties to George Washington as many men from the area fought with him in Boston.  Waterburians Jon Saxon and Mark Richards were with George Washington in the fight at Valley Forge in 1777.
  • The superintendent of schools in Waterbury, Berlin Wright Tinker is a descendent of Thomas Tinker who came over on the Mayflower.
