What vehicles are impacted by this Subaru recall?

This recall effects certain 2015-2018 Subaru Forester with a production range of January 20, 2015 through August 1, 2017.

Description of the WUM-98 Safety Recall:

The effected vehicles will experience an exhaust noise and/or odor leaking from the exhaust. This occurred due to cracks along the bellows section of the exhaust which include the catalytic converter. This issue could result in the emission performance declining which could result in a failed emission test.

What is done to address this Occupant Detection System Recall and how long does it take to fix?

Each vehicle will have an inspection done to verify the sensor issue exists. If it does exist the ODS sensor will be replaced at no charge to the customer. This repair should be performed by a Subaru Certified Technician at your local Subaru Dealership. The Premier service department can fix the issue in approximately 2 hours. This includes the 20 minute vehicle inspection to verify the ODS sensor needs replacement. We recommend you schedule an appointment and we'll be certain to get the parts in house before you arrive.
