Subaru Recall WRD-20 effected models with Impeller failure problem

Description of the WRD-20 Safety Recall:

A vehicle effected by this recall was equipped with low pressure fuel pump which included an impeller with lower density. If the impeller is exposed to solvent drying for long periods of time the impeller can develop cracks. These cracks can lead to the fuel pump working inefficiently and could cause it to become inoperative. If it becomes inoperative you will get a warning light and the vehicle could potentially stall during operation without the ability to restart the vehicle.

What is done to address this Fuel Pump Impeller Failure problem and how long does it take to fix?

For any affected units still on dealer lots the fuel pump will be replaced with known good pumps before being sold. Any affected sold vehicles will be repaired using a customized fuel pump repair kit. These kits are specific to each model. This repair should be performed by a Subaru Certified Technician at your local Subaru Dealership. The Premier service department can fix the issue in approximately a 70 minutes. We recommend you schedule an appointment and we'll be certain to get the parts in house before you arrive.
